Dear LIFT Families,

Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! We are excited about welcoming our new and returning young adult students to the LIFT Adult Transition Program. Students at LIFT will work on activities and lessons such as vocational skills, community skills, domestic activities (such as cooking, laundry, sweeping, and vacuuming), and recreational activities such as art, gardening, sports, indoor games, and social nights. Every month students will receive a calendar with their work schedule, scheduled community outings, and class activities.

  1. Work schedule: As part of our program, students will participate in work experiences within the school district and in the community. Students will be paid for their work. New students will need to complete student worker forms with our LIFT office in order to ensure they are paid for their work. Returning students do not need to complete forms unless there has been a change to personal information. Please contact us if you need to complete or revise district employee forms.

On scheduled work days, students should wear a uniform consisting of a white polo shirt and black pants. Students may keep their uniforms at school and will wash their own uniforms on campus. If your son/daughter cannot dress independently, they should wear their uniform to school on scheduled work days.

  1. Community outings: Students will take public transportation to designated locations in the community. On these days, students are highly encouraged to bring money so that they can make purchases or purchase their lunch. This will allow students to practice their money/finance skills independently. Students should bring a purse or wallet on these days to carry their money and Metro/TAP passes in. On warm days, students should also bring hats and sunscreen. Staff is not allowed to hold money for students. We will send home all change and receipts with students. Additionally, students will take walking trips to the market, bank, post office, library, etc. Please make sure your son/daughter wears comfortable clothes and shoes to school daily.

  1. Emergency Card Information, Health Update, and Photo Release: Please review the “Enrollment Health History Form” and also update your child’s health information at  family.ausd.us, which is extremely important for your child’s safety if you have not yet done so.  Your child will also be receiving our blue Emergency I.D. Card which is crucial in identifying to whom your child may be released in the event of an emergency.  We will not be able to release your child to anyone who is not identified on the card. Also, please indicate if you are willing to have your child be photographed for publication at site events and our social media page. That is also available online at family.ausd.us.

  1. Breakfast and Lunch Program: Please sign up for free and reduced lunch at  www.ausd.us.  Click on the “Apply for Lunch”  tab on the main page to begin the process. Please visit our updated LIFT website for information and a schedule of events this school year at www.ausdlift.org

All incoming first year LIFT students should complete online enrollment as new students as soon as possible if you have not yet done so already. Please note that our daily school hours are from 8:00am - 2:00pm. Our school gates open each morning at 7:45am and breakfast is served from 7:45am - 8:15am. Thank you for your support of our program. Please feel free to call or email if you have any questions. We are looking forward to an exciting year!

Sincerely,

Dr. Angie Juárez, Principal
