Program Description
LIFT is an acronym for Learning Independence for Transition. The LIFT adult transition program focuses on providing students 18 - 22 years old with practical skills that will enhance their independence at home, in the workplace, and in the community. Students learn foundational functional academic skills in their school and classroom environment that will help them with everyday tasks and routines. Community-based instruction gives students the opportunity to learn and practice their skills in the environments they will be used. Students at LIFT navigate the community through public transportation such as the Alhambra City Transit and the L.A. Metro Transit buses. Students are given opportunities to gain vocational experience with the support of our generous district and community business partners. The LIFT campus is equipped with a domestic skills room where a functional kitchen is housed along with a dining area and washer and dryer to practice domestic skills in a safe and supervised environment.
